Heat Battery: sustainable heat on demand
A heat battery stores surplus energy in the form of heat and releases it in a controlled manner. The Heatwacht PowerStove is a modular heat battery that stores heat up to 360°C, with unlimited charge cycles and exclusively European, circular materials.

What is a heat battery?
A heat battery is a system that stores energy in the form of heat, rather than in chemical energy like a conventional battery. The heat battery is charged with electricity from renewable sources, waste heat, or low-cost power from the EPEX SPOT market. The stored heat can then be used hours, days, or even weeks later for industrial processes, building heating, or district heating.
Unlike lithium batteries, a thermal battery contains no scarce raw materials and does not degrade through repeated charging and discharging. The storage medium, magnetite in our case, is a natural mineral that is virtually unlimited in supply. This makes a heat battery not only more sustainable, but also safer: there is no fire or explosion risk.
The Heatwacht PowerStove is a heat battery specifically designed for professional applications. The system is modular, CE-certified, and entirely manufactured with materials from the European Union. Whether it concerns steam, hot water, or thermal oil: the PowerStove delivers reliable heat exactly when your process demands it.
How does a heat battery work?
Generate or purchase energy
The heat battery is charged with electricity from solar panels, wind turbines, or the grid. Through a smart energy management system (EMS), charging occurs at times when power is cheapest.
Convert to heat
Electrical energy is converted into thermal energy via heating elements. The storage medium, magnetite, is heated to a maximum of 360°C and retains this heat with minimal loss.
Store heat
The heat remains stored in the insulated modules until there is demand. Thanks to high-quality insulation and the properties of magnetite, losses are minimal, even over extended periods.
Deliver heat on demand
When heat is needed, thermal oil circulates through the modules and transports the heat to your process. The output can be steam, hot water, or thermal oil, tailored to your specific requirements.

Benefits of a heat battery
Why an increasing number of businesses choose thermal energy storage with the PowerStove.
Heat battery applications
The PowerStove is deployed in sectors where reliable heat is essential.
Industry and manufacturing
Process heat for the food, chemical, and paper industries. The heat battery delivers steam or thermal oil at the desired temperature, independent of gas connections.
Healthcare facilities
Hospitals and healthcare facilities require 24/7 reliable heat. The PowerStove provides supply security without fire hazard, ideal for environments where safety comes first.
District heating and heat networks
Buffer between supply and demand in heat networks. The heat battery absorbs peaks and delivers heat when renewable sources produce insufficient energy.
Greenhouse horticulture
Greenhouse heating with stored solar or wind energy. The heat battery makes growers less dependent on gas and structurally reduces energy costs.
Why choose a Heatwacht heat battery?
Heatwacht combines over 35 years of experience in industrial installations with innovative thermal storage technology. The PowerStove is designed, built, and validated in the Netherlands and is ready for deployment in your organization.
Frequently asked questions about heat batteries
